Winter Forum and Luncheon - New Date - Tuesday 20th December 2011
The Grand Hotel

Having had to postpone our event on 24th November due to the unavailability of the Economic Development Minister, we are now delighted to advise that following the elections and appointment of the Council of Ministers, newly re-elected Economic Development Minister, Senator Alan Maclean has agreed to be our guest speaker at our re-arranged event on Tuesday 20th December 2011.

With challenges prevailing for all businesses involved in the hospitality industry and going into a further uncertain period ahead, his address will be very important for the industry and will include updates ref his vision for a PPP for Tourism and how that will work and be delivered and the details of how the Oxera Report on Tourism is progressing as well as the business, budget and marketing plans for 2012. There will be a Q&A session and the media will be in attendance.

The members only Forum will see the JHA President and Committee updating members on our activity since we last met in August together with a few small presentations. The forum will commence at 11.00 a.m. with coffees/teas etc being served from 10.30 a.m.

Pre-luncheon drinks will be served from 12.30 with luncheon at 1.00 p.m. The cost of the event will be £27.50 per person and will include morning coffee/tea on arrival, luncheon and a half a bottle of wine per person and coffee.

JHA Winter Forum and Luncheon - Postponed

In our October Newsletter circulated on 21st October we advised that the JHA Winter Forum and Luncheon would be held on Thursday 24th November 2011 at The Grand Jersey. At that time, we were in the process of fixing a guest speaker and had asked the Minister for Economic Development or its CEO.  We have now been advised that the 24th November has been chosen by the States as the date for the first meeting of the new Council of Ministers so both invitees have confirmed their unavailability.

With no real time left to fix another speaker, it has been agreed to postpone the event. The new Ministers for the States will be confirmed next Thursday or Friday so we need to wait until then to see who will be the ED Minister - as your Committee want the ED Minister as our guest speaker we will liaise with that person then to arrange a suitable date for them to address our members especially with updates ref the PPP for Tourism and the Oxera Report on Tourism. Obviously, we were unaware that the date we selected for our event would be compromised with the first meeting of the new Council of Ministers. Dependant on availability we will try for dates in December but if not certainly will seek to hold the event in January.

We will keep you advised of further developments.

The ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING of the Jersey Hospitality Association was held at The Royal Yacht Hotel on 31st March 2011.  This was followed by a luncheon at which Senator Alan Maclean was Guest Speaker.
