PatPass Jersey - Owners of businesses have a legal responsibility (in accordance with the Electricity at Work (Jersey) Regulations 1983) to take all reasonable steps to ensure the safety of Electronic Appliances and this is now most commonly achieved through PAT Testing.

What is PAT Testing? Portable Appliance Testing is a process by which electrical appliances are routinely checked for safety. Health and safety regulations state that the appliance must be safe, to prevent harm to the users.

What needs to be tested? Many types of equipment require testing at regular intervals to ensure continual safety; the interval between tests depending on both the type of appliance and the environment it is used in. Evidence of testing is then clearly visible in the form of 'Passed', 'Tested for Electrical Safety' and 'DO NOT USE after' labels affixed to various parts of the electrical equipment used.

So who are PatPass Jersey? - Are a new JHA partner business and provide PAT Testing in accordance with recommendations made by the Health and Safety Inspectorate (Jersey) and the Electricity at Work (Jersey) Regulations 1983. Additionally, the prudent requirements implemented by insurance companies when allowing claims to be made after fire or accidents relative to equipment see most insurance companies maintaining a clause within their policies that is relevant to PAT Testing and often use this against those who have not implemented such as an opportunity to refuse claims. They are locally based and its sole owner, Fiona Sharples, oversees and ensures the administration, alongside testing being carried out in a stringent and effective manner to provide clients with the best possible service.

What do I pay? - A Special Rate for JHA Members

PatPass Jersey can offer such testing at the most competitive rates on the island and such costs can also be fixed for three years. They will provide PAT for JHA members in accordance with any existing procedures and offer testing at a rate of between £1.90 and £3.00 per appliance (a large reduction on their standard rate of testing) inclusive of fuses and plug changes.
