Minimum Wage Review

The Employment Forum is carrying out its annual review of the minimum wage and the JHA will be responding on behalf of the industry.  An online survey and more information are on the website:

The JHA would like to receive the views of businesses that employ staff at the MW (£6.32 per hour) and employees who earn the minimum wage.  It would be helpful to know what you think the MW should be from April 2012.  Of even greater importance should employers be able to deduct a charge from the MW if they provide meals to staff whilst they are on duty? The trainee rate (£4.74 per hour) may be paid for up to one year where an employer is providing training that meets certain criteria. Have you paid or received the trainee rate? What are your views on the criteria that permit payment of the trainee rate?

The closing date for responses is 12 August 2011 but we will be coordinating our response by the end of July. A public meeting will also be held to discuss the minimum wage at the Hotel de France at 2.30 on Tuesday 19 July; if you would like to attend, please reply by 4 July - E: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
